Youth HandsOn Network/Children for Children hosted its fourth annual Grow Involved for the Holidays Family Fun'raiser for Family Volunteer Day on Sunday, November 22. More than 200 families from across New York City came together for a day of hands-on volunteering and free award-winning barbecue from Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard restaurant.

A dozen different shelters, food pantries and senior centers will benefit from the items made at this Family Volunteer Day event, which included fleece scarves, toiletry care kits, Thanksgiving centerpieces, holiday cards and much more. A face-painting booth, puppet show, live jazz band, raffle and gingerbread man added to the fun and festivity of the event. Kids of all ages, many who had never before volunteered, learned just how fun the joy of giving can be while helping New Yorkers in need.
