Greater DC Cares volunteers support 50 non-profit organizations on the National Day of Service and Remembrance
More than 4,500 Greater DC Cares volunteers supported 50 non-profit organizations in service projects across the region on the National Day of Service and Remembrance. The day included a signature service project at RKF Stadium where more than 200 volunteers made 30 + comfort quilts for children of deployed soldiers. Other accomplishments and highlights from the day of service include:
- Sorting 26,000 pounds of food at the Capital Area Food Bank
- Painting a new computer lab for the Boys and Girls Club
- Assembling thousands of burn prevention kits and safe sex kits
- Serving hundreds of meals to homeless individuals
- Restoring national monuments, parks, and historical landmarks
Greater DC Cares had a successful media outreach campaign that included coverage with the following media outlets:
