Boston Cares Encourages Post-Holiday Giving

Giving and making an effort to meet the needs of those less fortunate is at the forefront of many American's minds during the holiday season. However, the holidays are now behind us, but the needs are still great.

HandsOn Network Action Center Boston Cares is teaming up with The Boston Globe and Building Impact to meet urgent community needs in February 2010. This power team is encouraging Boston residents to host food drives for the Boston Food Bank or shoe drives for Room to Grow (an organization that strives to meet needs for young children born into poverty) during the month.

Boston Cares is providing coaching, materials, and assistance with transporting donations to the agencies for those hosting drives in their neighborhoods, places of work or religious organizations. This team is also encouraging Boston residents to spread the word about these agencies and encourage friends and neighbors to donate.

For more information about how to host a drive in your community and meet needs during the recession for your neighbors, check out the resources Boston Cares has developed.
