MLK Day 2010: An Amazing Day ON!

Points of Light Institute and HandsOn Network celebrated MLK Day of Service by bringing together more than 100,000 people to serve in 1,500 HandsOn projects and engage in more than 150 community dialogues through our inaugural MLK Day Virtual Town Hall!

We worked with JustGood.tv to air live feeds to service projects and dialogues orchestrated by HandsOn Action Centers in seven U.S. cities. Members of Congress, mayors and other civic leaders served alongside volunteers in several cities and also addressed those participating virtually. Viewers were able to engage in the national dialogue by submitting questions, photos and video footage of their MLK Day experiences to the MLK Day Virtual Town Hall Web site.
