2010 National Conference on Volunteering and Service Highlights

New York City was the exciting site of the 2010 National Conference on Volunteering and Service, co-convened by Points of Light and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Almost 6,000 people came together to learn from the best in the field, network with each other, and be inspired by extraordinary stories of the power of service.

While there, attendees also walked the talk of conference, putting into action the theme of "It's Up to You!". Service projects took place across the city before the conference began. Euclid 500 was one such project. Volunteers built a greenhouse, planter boxes and trellises on a lot acquired by Euclid Garden, a nonprofit in East New York. The fresh fruits and vegetables grown will supply a local food bank.

As we move forward from conference, we hope that each attendee takes home a moment of insight from a workshop, an experience from an immersion learning session, or an encounter with a peer or new friend that will carry him or her forward with renewed energy and focus.
