National Day of Service and Remembrance

HandsOn Network is opening its doors on September 11, inviting you in to find service opportunities that are both enjoyable for you and beneficial for your community. In addition to introducing the world to service pathways through open house events, HandsOn Action Centers will lead high-impact volunteer projects to commemorate the day:

Some project highlights include:

- Pittsburgh Cares is organizing 2,000 volunteers throughout the city on September 11 and 12. These volunteers will be mobilized to support the G-20 Summit and to participate in a series of environmental impact projects.
- Greater DC Cares will engage more than 2,000 volunteers at more than 50 project sites, including a signature project making 100 personalized quilts for children whose parents are being deployed.
- New York Cares youth volunteers will help third and fourth grade students at P.S. 76 M write essays about giving back while adult volunteers help revitalize the school.

These are just a few of the amazing things happening across HandsOn Network on September 11. How will you commemorate the first National Day of Service and Remembrance?
