This Position Description identifies the major responsibilities of this job.  It does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the organization’s overall benefit.

Summary of Duties:  The Manager, Business Training Services is responsible for the development and delivery of a continuum of services delivered to Corporate Volunteer Councils, busness networks, and individual businesses of all sizes with a focus on helping companies to develop and deliver transformational employee volunteer engagement programs.  The position reports directly to the Director, Business Training and Consulting and is part of the Knowledge Development team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage HandsOn Network’s national network of Corporate Volunteer Councils (CVCs)
  • Provide support to knowledge development team on effective practices & research efforts in the field of corporate community outreach and workplace volunteerism.
  • Provides support for national meetings of Corporate Volunteer Council Advisory Team
  • Quality assurance of existing resources including the identification of materials/resources within the  HandsOn Network archives that should be updated and converted to electronic format for broader dissemination. 
  • Develops a readily accessible library of resources for organizations that are at varying stages of launching a Corporate Volunteer Council
  • Developing a readily accessible library of resources for organizations that are at varying stages of implementing employee volunteer programs to be disseminated via The Resource Center.
  • Provides remote technical assistance (phone based, web based, etc.)  to businesses and Corporate Volunteer Councils.
  • Supports the convening of   groups of businesses/companies to foster the sharing of effective practices in employee volunteering
  • Identifies effective practices in employee volunteering  and skills based volunteering among companies to be codified and disseminated via The Resource Center.
  • Work in collaboration with his/her counterpart at the Corporation for National and Community Services on an ongoing basis to identify deliverables and monitor progress
  • Manages a calendar of of training events and remote/distance learning opportunities for various business audiences.
  • Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of training, conference programs, meetings, technology, and other initiatives that help accomplish the goals and vision of the Foundation’s strategic plan. 
  • Identify and direct content and curriculum for National Conference business market track and training.  Includes RFP proposal process, securing speaker/trainers, workshop scheduling, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal partners for optimal results by working with Membership, Training/Consulting, Conferences & Meetings, Communications & Marketing, and National Partnerships to effectively represent and advocate the interests and viewpoints of the business market.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing/Research or the equivalent experience in related field.

Minimum Experience

  • 4-5 years related experience in training development development, marketing/ communications and/or research experience required. 
  • Knowledge of business market and community relations and/or employee volunteer program management experience preferred.
  • Experience working at both a local and national company or nonprofit preferred.
  • Demonstrated high-level customer contact, problem solving experience, project management and strategic planning skills. 
  • Proficiency in database management; knowledge (information) system development and analysis is essential.
  • Proficiency in budget development and management.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and committee management skills are required.
