Hands On Georgia serves as the premier organization addressing volunteer service and civic engagement for the state of Georgia. As a statewide initiative, Hands On Georgia addresses the multifaceted needs of the state through research, advocacy, and the mobilization of volunteers. Hands On Georgia will employ innovative strategies to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to take action that transforms our state. The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and execution of Hands On Georgia’s AmeriCorps program and supports other Hands On Georgia programmatic goals and objectives. The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator reports to the Hands On Georgia Senior Program Manager.
- The HOGA AmeriCorps program provides national service members and capacity building strategies for volunteer engagement and community leadership to communities across Georgia. The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator provides technical assistance and training to both members and program directors at affiliate and partner operating sites. The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will manage programmatic and administrative processes, is responsible for personnel management of AmeriCorps members and will be a primary point of contact for operating AC programs within the state. The AmeriCorps Coordinator also assumes responsibility for monthly drawdown from the Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism and serves as the primary liaison to the state commission.
AmeriCorps Support
The AmeriCorps Coordinator will be the primary contact for AmeriCorps operating sites and for supporting members participating in the program. Specific duties include:
- Recruits affiliate and partner sites and manages the RFP process for AmeriCorps members with goal of expanding program.
- Maintains up-to-date promotional materials for the program including recruitment flyers and the AmeriCorps portion of the HandsOnGeorgia.org website.
- Plans and organizes training activities for members and supervisors including the annual pre-service orientation and mid-year retreat.
- Travels to sites for member and staff training, as appropriate;
- Develops member recognition and support including member handbooks and toolkits, collateral materials, AmeriCorps gear, etc.
- Supports the evaluation of the AmeriCorps program including reporting to the Georgia Commission for Service and Volunteerism.
- Supports the continuous improvement of the AmeriCorps program.
- Oversees program and ensures quality project development and sustainability.
Training and Technical Assistance
The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will help ensure high-quality AmeriCorps operating sites with an emphasis on excellent AmeriCorps programs. The coordinator will help ensure high-quality operating sites for our AmeriCorps programs. This is done through a two-pronged strategy of critical evaluation of host sites and corresponding technical assistance, training, and capacity building consulting for site supervisors which includes:
- Develops supervisor handbooks and other management support tools and supports the delivery of corresponding trainings to supervisors in annual orientations and other methods.
- Develops AmeriCorps handbooks and other support material in an effort to provide quality training and resources to sites.
- Implements site visits including interviews with members, supervisors, partner representatives and other key constituencies.
- Organizes ongoing training activities for members and supervisors.
- Provides coordination for the annual review of each AmeriCorps site.
Administrative and AmeriCorps Management
Administrative duties for the program include member and programmatic data management on the CNCS Web-Based Reporting System (WBRS) as well as other internal tracking of data in accordance with the grant requirements.
Specific tasks include:
- Serves as the primary interface between members and finance office, ensuring timely reimbursements and facilitating direct deposit payment system.
- Reviews, enters and maintains all member-related documentation (enrollment, exit, and service logs).
- Maintains paper files in compliance with AmeriCorps grant provisions at the Hands On Georgia office and ensures compliance with paperwork requirements at the affiliate site level.
- Responsible for grant management and administration.
- Responsible for the fiscal and reporting requirements to ensure timely and efficient AmeriCorps grant reimbursements and requirements of annual audits...
- Manages and maintains regular programmatic data, including receipt and review of quarterly reports and other information from host sites, and manages data entry.
- Manages relationship with SRC, the AmeriCorps health insurance administrator, including enrolling and exiting members and assisting with claims questions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- Desired AmeriCorps Experience: experience as an AmeriCorps member preferred experience as staff with an AmeriCorps program required, experience with Web-based Reporting System (WBRS), and knowledge of AmeriCorps program provisions and oversight regulations;
- Prior experience in nonprofits and/or national service, a plus;
- Grant management and administration preferred;
- Financial management and reporting experience desired;
- Desire to implement innovative strategies for civic engagement with creative flair;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet aggressive timelines;
- Outstanding planning skills - the capacity to strategically imagine, plan and implement new ideas;
- Experience in facilitation and training, public speaking, and meeting planning;
- Excellent communication and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent customer service skills and a diplomatic style;
- Demonstrated project management skills;
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task is a must;
- Proficiency with technology including the Microsoft Office suite; html helpful;
- Strong detail orientation;
- Willingness to travel 25% - 40%.
