HandsOn University Partners with Spelman College’s Bonner Scholars
The HandsOn University team recently launched a pilot college student volunteer leader training program in partnership with the Bonner Scholar’s program at Spelman College in Atlanta. The Bonner Scholars program provides service-learning scholarships for students who have high financial need and a commitment to service.
“The partnership between HandsOn Network and Spelman College serves as a powerful mechanism to train students as volunteers and those who are interested in becoming volunteer leaders. HandsOn Network is excited to provide best in class training that will serve as a foundation for the Spelman freshman class and Bonner Scholar students for years to come,” said Jeannie Blocton Bell, Manager, Training & Consulting Projects at HandsOn Network.
The program is designed to heighten Bonner Scholars’ overall education by engaging them in ongoing service and helping them develop the tools and the knowledge necessary to make their volunteer experiences meaningful. HandsOn University offered introductory volunteer leader training on September 10 titled “Introduction to Volunteering and Service.” More than 900 students participated in the initial session.
