This Position Description identifies the major responsibilities of this job.  It does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the organization’s overall benefit.

General Description: Points of Light Institute is seeking an Evaluation and Performance Measurement Manager. This position is responsible for researching, collecting, and analyzing data to support the successful completion of program evaluations, organizational performance assessments, sector research projects, social return on investment studies and cost-benefit analyses. The opportunity will encourage utilization of both creative and analytical talents in the work being undertaken. The Evaluation and Performance Measurement Manager will report to the Director of Planning, Evaluation and Performance Measurement.

Duties & responsibilities: Assist in survey research and other means of primary data collection, including survey design, sample development, survey implementation, in-depth interviews, and focus groups from a variety of stakeholders including organizational national programs and events, Affiliate network, sector partners and third party data sources. Conduct discrete secondary research tasks including web-based research, literature reviews, policy research, and document review. Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of primary and secondary data and develop written summaries of research and results utilizing statistical, narrative and graphic components as appropriate. Assist in collection and analysis of organizational performance data. Advise on development and customization of volunteer activity tracking technology solutions. Strengthen the analytical capabilities of affiliates and national staff through training and technical assistance.  Participate in regional and national conferences and gatherings, departmental and POLI staff meetings. Keep current on relevant professional standards, trends and issues and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education:
Qualified candidates will have at minimum a Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree preferred, in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience conducting research and analysis with an analytical background in applied economics, statistics or related field and demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, including fluency in SPSS or other statistical packages. The position requires proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SalesForce and advanced knowledge of program evaluation principles and practices. Qualified candidates must have excellent project management skills and ability to multi-task, excellent oral and written communication skills, with the proven ability to produce well-crafted reports and clearly present complex information to various audiences and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively and ability to work well under tight deadlines. Experience providing training and technical assistance desired, as well as knowledge of adult education concepts and experience in both for profit and nonprofit settings is a plus.
