Youth HandsOn Network/Children for Children hosted its fourth annual Grow Involved for the Holidays Family Fun'raiser for Family Volunteer Day on Sunday, November 22. More than 200 families from across New York City came together for a day of hands-on volunteering and free award-winning barbecue from Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard restaurant.

HandsOn Action Centers and nonprofit partners kicked off the holiday season with giving and service as they commemorated Family Volunteer Day on Saturday.

Hands on the Holidays

Hands On Greenville has conducted Hands on the Holidays, a Christmas gift drive for foster children in the community, for the past eight years.

Hands On Greenville works closely with the Department of Social Service of Greenville County to collect "wish lists" from each child in the fall. The children ask for clothing items, electronic items, school supplies and one special gift.

Hands On Manila Servathon 2009

Hands On Manila's annual servathon was an incredible, high-impact event that engaged thousands of volunteers in service that benefitted victims of the recent Typhoon Ketsana and floods.

Projects included refurbishing schools damaged by flooding, painting murals in day care centers and hospital rooms, planting urban vegetable gardens and assisting with resume writing and mock job interviews for migrant youth, just to name a few of the significant activities volunteers accomplished.

L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth Honorees Announced

L'Oréal Paris recently announced the 2009 Women of Worth Honorees. The Women of Worth Awards program honors women who have made an extraordinary difference in their community through their volunteer efforts.

L'Oréal Paris will make a $5,000 donation to each 2009 Women Of Worth Honoree's most cherished charitable cause, as well as an additional $5,000 donation in the name of each winner to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

2010 MLK Award Recipients Announced

Thanks to the support of the Corporation for National and Community Service and our corporate sponsors, HandsOn Network is pleased to announce the MLK 2010 grant awards.

We received more than 45 applications, and the review team selected the following sites. These organizations represent different regions and communities across the country that will be engaging volunteer leaders, commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. King, partnering with low-income communities and providing opportunities for continued service for volunteers.
