University of Phoenix, the largest private university in North America, is teaming up with HandsOn Network to train new volunteer leaders and strengthen the civic infrastructure. The HandsOn University team recently launched a pilot college student volunteer leader training program in partnership with the Bonner Scholar’s program at Spelman College in Atlanta. The Bonner Scholars program provides service-learning scholarships for students who have high financial need and a commitment to service.

Starbucks Sees Overwhelming Response to "I'm In!" Campaign

At the beginning of the year, Starbucks mobilized Americans to pledge five hours of community service in their neighborhoods by volunteering with HandsOn Network and our 250 HandsOn Action Centers through the “I’m IN!” campaign.

The response was overwhelming - amazing volunteers collectively pledged more than 1.25 million hours!

HandsOn Atlanta, PGA TOUR, The Coca-Cola Company & the East Lake Neighbors Community Association Commemorate Sept. 11

More than 135 volunteers commemorated the First National Day of Service and Remembrance by revitalizing East Lake Park in Atlanta on September 12.

The service project was a combined effort of The TOUR Championship presented by The Coca-Cola Company, HandsOn Atlanta and the East Lake Neighbors Association, stemming from the unique partnership between PGA TOUR and HandsOn Network. The diverse group of volunteers included representatives from each of those entities, plus youth, thanks to golf-affiliated youth organization First Tee.

American Express and HandsOn Network Team up for "Travel with Your Mind"

On September 11, HandsOn Network and American Express will launch a year-long “Travel with Your Mind” HandsOn Schools program, beginning with a project in Detroit. Rebuilding New Orleans: Four Years Later

On Monday, August 29, 2005, Katrina—one of the deadliest storms in the history of the United States—tore through the Gulf Coast and wrecked lives, homes, schools, businesses and more. Four years later, New Orleans businesses and residents alike are still tackling rebuilding and renovation projects. Ms. Kern, a New Orleans homeowner in her 80’s, is one of those residents.

Boston Cares Help Feed 725 Patients Daily

Community Servings is dedicated to providing free home-delivered meals throughout eastern Massachusetts to people homebound with HIV/AIDS and other acute life-threatening illnesses. The organization prepares and packages 725 meals every day, providing clients who are unable to shop or prepare food for themselves with two daily meals and 2,700 calories daily.

Every month, 850 volunteers are needed to prepare, package and deliver 30,000 meals to Community Servings’ 725 clients.
