I am excited to announce the launch of a new online presence for HandsOn Network Generated by Points of Light Institute! This new site is user-friendly and will serve as a forum for interactivity and communication around the Network. It is my hope that the Web site will be a hub for storytelling and a place for all of us to share inspirational stories of volunteerism and to celebrate people creating real change in their communities.
National Volunteer Week 2009, commemorated April 19-26, was an amazing week that truly demonstrated the meaning behind the theme of this signature week: Celebrating People in Action. Points of Light Institute and HandsOn Action Centers across the country held events and activities to honor dedicated volunteers and bring national attention to civic engagement.
