Corporate Council
The Corporate Council:
Action, Innovation, and Impact
For the past three years, the Hands On Network Corporate Council has worked as a unified force to lead and inspire Corporate America toward increased civic impact. Founded in partnership with Bob Nardelli and The Home Depot, the Council has grown to include more than 60 CEOs and civic leaders representing some of the nation’s largest and most successful Fortune 500 companies.

The merger of Hands On Network and The Points of Light Foundation brings new talent and resources to the Council with the integration of the POLF National Council on Workplace Volunteerism (NCWV). The two Councils have come together, leveraging the strength and experience of their pasts toward a clear vision and strategy for 2008. The integrated Corporate Council will support Points of Light & Hands On Network’s mission of inspiring, equipping, and mobilizing people to take action and change the world.

2008 Corporate Council Vision and Strategy

An Impact Driven Action Agenda
As a way to demonstrate the collective power of corporate driven employee engagement, the Corporate Council will organize its shared work around three impact areas. (These areas are chosen to represent the areas of greatest concern to most communities, as well as to reflect the broadest general interest areas of corporate philanthropy.)

  • Restoring Schools As Center of Communities
  • Preserving the Earth
  • Alleviating Poverty through Community Development
An Innovation Agenda to Create Transformation
The Corporate Council and Points of Light & Hands On Network are in a unique position to play a powerful, leadership role in advancing a platform for long-term institutional change around corporate civic engagement practices. Over the course of two years, the Corporate Council will develop methods to catalyze enterprise-wide change through three avenues.

  • Defining Skill Based Volunteering Industry Benchmarks, Best Practices, and Resources
  • Developing Management Tools to Demonstrate ROI of Corporate Civic Responsibility
  • Creating National Corporate Civic Responsibility Standards
